The search for an armed carjacker in the 3100 block of Carlin Avenue started at about noon. The suspect may be hiding in an apartment in the area.

Deputies in tactical gear and SWAT vehicles are on the scene and the immediate area was evacuated.

Despite several reports of the suspect having possible links to the ambush that left two sheriff’s deputies wounded, the department confirmed there is no connection between the suspects.

“We have no nexus known between that and the ambush,” said Sheriff Alex Villanueva.
