Investigators say a cellphone bill led police to a man who is accused of going on a spending spree with a stolen credit card, and may be linked to gym thefts across South Florida.

Police arrested 25-year-old Levontre Scott on 11 felony charges last week.

The investigation began in January when a man told police someone broke into his gym locker at LA Fitness.  Police said the thief used the victim's car keys to get into their car and steal a wallet.  A short time later, police said Scott used the stolen credit card at CVS and Walgreen's to buy more than $800 worth of gift cards.

Police believe Scott committed a similar gym locker theft at Planet Fitness.

The trail of evidence, which included a peak at photos on Instagram, led detectives to a phone number linked to Scott.  Police said he paid the phone bill with a gift card he fraudulently obtained.

Scott, of Wisconsin, is now at the St. Lucie County Jail with a $120,000 bond.
