The driver of a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle was heading north and was hit by the 71-year-old driver of a 2009 Chevy sedan turning left onto the highway from Battleground Road, Ridgeway said.

The motorcycle driver was not wearing a helmet and was thrown from the bike, according to Ridgeway.

He was taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center where he later died, Ridgeway said.

The coroner has identified the victim as Ronnie Leigh Cannon, 25, of Cowpens.

The Chevy driver was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, Ridgeway said.
