One person dead after plane crash in Washington County

UPDATE (12:53 a.m.):

Emergency crews who responded to the crash site of a small plane in Washington county said one person is dead. They said they think there was only one person on board.


The Washington County Sheriff's office said they found the missing plane in the county.

Search crews found the plane in the woods off of Pierson Road in Prairie Grove around 11:15 p.m. Monday. The first calls to search for the plane came in at 8:43 p.m.

Officials did not release information on the pilot.

The sheriff's office said several local agencies responded to the search.


A spokesperson says the Washington County Sheriff's office has deputies searching for a missing plane, after they received a report that a plane went down in the area of Cove Creek South.

Kelly Cantrell, with the Washington County Sheriff's Office, says they got a report around 8:43 p.m., from a person who said they witnessed a small plane go down. She says the received a second, similar report.

They are using their drone to search for the plane, Cantrell said.

Cove Creek South is located south of Prairie Grove.

The Washington County Department of Emergency Management is also responding.
