A teenager from Delaware County was charged Thursday with fatally stabbing his older brother during an argument.

Dakota Hall, 19, was taken into custody after Delaware County Sheriff's deputies and New York State Police responded at 10:50 p.m. to a Main Street residence in the Village of Fleischmanns for a reported domestic dispute.

The victim, 27-year-old Eric Hall, was pronounced dead from a stabbing injury after being taken by ambulance to Margaretville Memorial Hospital. Dakota Hall and Eric Hall are brothers, according to the sheriff's office.

Dakota Hall was jailed Friday morning on a felony charge of second-degree murder. The sheriff's office didn't release a motive in the stabbing, but said the investigation is ongoing and the stabbing appears to be related to a domestic dispute.

The New York State Police Forensic Identification Unit is assisting with the investigation.

If convicted of the murder charge, Dakota Hall could be sentenced to a maximum of 25 years to life in prison. The minimum penalty for a second-degree murder charge, if convicted, is 15 years to life in prison.
