Jefferson County authorities are asking for the public’s help for information in the disappearance of a 68-year-old man.

Sterling Emanuel Jones has not been heard from since Monday, Oct. 25, according to the sheriff’s office. His last known location was in Scooba, Mississippi.

He is from the Center Point area.

Deputy Chief David Agee said it is uncharacteristic for Jones to be gone this long without contacting his family. The disappearance is suspicious, in part, because he was traveling with a large sum of money.

Detectives are looking for a vehicle believed to be involved in the disappearance of Jones.

That vehicle is a green 2011 Infinity QX50 SUV with a personalized tag that reads “SIRNARD.”

Sheriff’s officials are asking the public to be on the lookout for the vehicle and, if seen, to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 205-325-1450.
