The lawsuit filed Thursday challenges the committee's authority to compel depositions under the current House of Representatives rules.

This comes after the committee refused Mastriano's request to record his testimony before the committee. Mastriano said the committee also attempted to turn an informal interview into a compelled deposition, breaching House rules.

Mastriano's attorney ended the interview and told News 8 that he and his client were going to sue.

Mastriano was at the U.S. Capitol for the Trump rally on Jan. 6, 2021, but said he never crossed barricades.
