A family is demanding justice after 20-year-old Corey Shearer was shot and killed at a house party in Rancho Cordova on Friday night.

Rancho Cordova police responded after getting a 911 call at about 11:21 p.m. on Friday about a shooting at a house on Ramsgate Way near Mather Field Road.

Shearer was taken to the hospital where he eventually died from his injuries. That is where Shearer’s aunt, Jolene Pimentel, said the family was eventually informed about what happened.

“He has been shot multiple times and that they tried CPR, but they couldn't save him and my sister, of course, lost it,” Pimentel said.

Shearer grew up in Amador County and loved football and family.

“He just was such a genuine soul, so sweet. He was 20 years old, and he'd still come up every time and give me a kiss and tell me he loved me. ‘I love you, auntie Jojo.’ He was just so sweet,” Pimentel said.

Another aunt, Melissa Mayberry, said she was at her home in Nevada when she got the news.

“Shock. Very, very big shock to us. Very bad. He was actually supposed to come to my house. I was supposed to pick him up Sunday,” Mayberry said.

She said this has been especially tough for Shearer’s younger sisters.

“He had three sisters he loved very, very much. He was their protector, their friend. He was everything to them,” Mayberry explained.

Shearer played football in high school, first at Amador High School and then at Argonaut High School.

“His coaches would come up to me and tell me how great he is. He would not get taken out of the game from the beginning until the end,” Pimental said of her nephew.

“He was just the greatest,” Mayberry said. “He could walk into a room with his smile. He was so handsome, and he could light our entire house up with that smile.”

A shooter has not been arrested for Shearer’s murder.

“We just need help in finding the person and making sure this doesn't happen again. I don't want it to be somebody else's child,” said Shearer’s uncle, Scott Smith.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sacramento Sheriff’s Office at 916-874-5115 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-HELP.

A fundraiser has also been set up for the family.
