Police said a man had gotten out of the home, but a woman was still inside.

“Upon arrival fire crews found flames coming from windows and doors on the front of the house. Fire crews made entry and were able to remove the female victim from the home. She was flown by helicopter directly to the burn center at the University of Iowa Medical Center in Iowa City,” Indianola fire officials said through a news release.

The man was transported by ambulance to a Des Moines hospital for treatment for his burn injuries.

Crews from several departments responded and were able to extinguish the flames quickly.
