A Florida woman has been charged for beating her roommate, also her cousin, for blasting the 1978 Chic hit “Le Freak” shortly after midnight Tuesday at their apartment in the Tampa Bay area, The Smoking Gun reports.

Mary Ann Lannon, 53, was charged with domestic battery, a misdemeanor, for attacking the 64-year-old, whose name was not released, after she “became upset” because the victim was playing the song “over and over again very loudly,” according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the outlet.

Lannon’s freakout led her to push her cuz into a “makeshift tiki bar,” which subsequently broke, and then to “strike her left eye on a speaker,” according to the affidavit.

The victim, who has lived with Lannon the past five years, sustained “severe swelling and bruising to the left eye,” the affidavit noted.

Though she was released from county jail on her own recognizance, Lannon was ordered to have no contact with her cousin.

“Le Freak” spent 25 weeks on the Billboard chart, peaking at #1 on Dec. 9, 1978. The hit track has remained popular over the past four decades, featuring in everything from “Shrek 2″ and “Toy Story 3″ to “Think Like a Man Too” and “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.”
