A former pharmacy employee at the Howell Kroger store embezzled nearly $3,000 from customers over the last year, a police officer testified in an April hearing that led to criminal charges.

Kailey Buck, 32, was arraigned on a sole count of embezzlement by an agent or trustee between $1,000 and $20,000 on Aug. 26.

The officer said Buck would shift "pharmacy transfer points," which can be redeemed for money, from customer's Kroger accounts into her own.

"What Kailey said she was doing was, instead of transferring the points to the customer, she was transferring those to her own card," the officer testified.

Mitchell Perrault, Buck’s attorney, declined to comment.

Buck, who lives in Genoa Township, was ordered to stand trial on the charge Tuesday. Future court dates were not immediately available.

She is free on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond. She faces up to five years in prison or a fine of not more than $10,000, or three times the value of the money embezzled, whichever is greater, or both imprisonment and a fine if convicted as charged.
