Four shot in Chicago, including slaying in Target parking lot on South Side

Four people were shot in Chicago between Thursday and early Friday, including a man killed by a concealed carry owner in the parking lot of a Target on the South Side.

The fatal shooting occurred at about 8 p.m. in the parking lot shared by Target and Fifth Third Bank in the 1900 block of West 33rd Street in the McKinley Park neighborhood, police said.

A 27-year-old man told police he shot another man, 21, who tried to rob him at gunpoint, police said. The man was shot in the back and chest and pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital, police said. Two guns were recovered from the car.

About 10 minutes after the fatal shooting, a 40-year-old man was shot in the head in the Gage Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side, police said.

The man was standing outside a home in the 5300 block of South Talman Avenue about 8:10 p.m. when someone walked up and started shooting, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

Also in the Gage Park neighborhood, a 31-year-old man was shot in the abdomen about 1:40 a.m. Friday on the Southwest Side, police said. He was standing in a parking lot with friends in the 5300 block of South Kedzie Avenue when someone came up and fired shots, police said. The man was taken to Mount Sinai hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

Earlier, a 23-year-old man was shot multiple times in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side about 6:10 p.m. Thursday, police said. Officers responding to a call of shots fired found the man lying in the street in the 6500 block of South Green Street, police said. The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said. Details of the shooting were unknown.
