A Fresno couple accused of breaking COVID-19 quarantine rules during their trip to Hawaii have been arrested.

The Hawaii General Attorney's Office says 22-year-old Miriam Rosas and 34-year-old Abel Rosas tried to check into a hotel on Tuesday after arriving to the state, without providing evidence of a COVID-19 test or an exemption.

Since the couple couldn't provide proof of a test, they were reportedly told they would have to go into mandatory quarantine.

The couple allegedly refused to check in after hearing this and left the hotel.

After leaving, the couple reportedly managed to check into another hotel after pretending they were Hawaii residents, according to the state's attorney general's office.

Investigators were able to track the couple down to the hotel and place them under arrest.
