A suspect was killed Tuesday in an officer-involved shooting in southeast Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

It happened in the 7500 block of Park Place Boulevard. The shooting was reported at about 6 p.m. when police said they got a call from a woman who said she was assaulted at the location.

When police got there, they attempted to detain a man, but a fight broke out. According to the police, the man's family member got involved in the fight as well.

Police said the suspect tried to take an officer's gun and the gun went off. A second officer then fired at the suspect, hitting and killing him.

The suspect's family member ran from the scene but was detained a short time later, police said.
