FARMINGVILLE, N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- A 9-year-old boy died after his family’s car was rear-ended last week by a drunk driver on Long Island, Suffolk County police said Monday.

Angel Salis, of Deer Park, died after suffering serious injuries in the crash early last Monday. He had been taken to Stony Book University Hospital following the crash, though it’s unclear exactly where or when he died.

The boy’s 49-year-old father was driving a Toyota Corolla in the westbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway in Farmingville around 1:50 a.m. when the car was rear-ended by a BMW driven by Travis Dickson, 27, of Brooklyn, police said.

Salis was rushed to Stony Book, while his father was treated at the same hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Dickson, who was allegedly drunk at the time of the crash, was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Dickson faces a charge of driving while intoxicated. He was being held on a $100,000 bail, according to Newsday.
