CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man in connection with the murder of Jason Marcus on Tuesday.

Deputies say they took 23-year-old Dashawn Hamlett of Campbell County into custody on Tuesday, Sept. 6. He was arrested after authorities chased him through the Town of Altavista and ended in the 5500 block of Wards Road.

TRACKING CRIME ACROSS VIRGINIA

According to the department, Hamlett is connected with a case from Sunday, Sept. 4. Authorities say Hamlett is facing the following charges: second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Deputies say Hamlett is being held without bond at the Lynchburg Detention Center. The case remains under investigation.

The Altavista Police Department, Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, and the Central Virginia Drug and Gang Task Force helped in the investigation.
