Man charged in connection to explosion at Clare County storage facility

CLARE COUNTY, Mich., 9WPBN/WGTU) -- A man has been charged in connection to the explosion at a Clare County storage facility earlier this week.

The Clare County Sheriff’s Office said David Hannaford, age 36 of Lake, was charged Friday by the Clare County Prosecutor’s Office with placing explosives near property causing physical injury.

The sheriff’s office said Hannaford is the renter of the storage facility unit where the explosion occurred.

He remains lodged in the Clare County Jail.

At around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Clare County Sheriff's Office said a box blew up in someone’s hand at a storage facility in Grant Township.

It was reported that two females, ages 27 and 44, were injured with one complaining of leg and injury and the other of ear injury.
