Deputies said Hand shot someone in the chest and ran off.

When deputies caught up with him, they fired at him, but he kept running, they said.

Deputies were eventually able to take Hand into custody after using tracking dogs and air support, officials said.

Hand was convicted of killing Marie Rogenski in July 2014 outside the Stay Lodge Hotel in Anderson.

He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but the sentence was suspended to five years with five years probation.

Hand is being held in the Walker County Detention Facility.
