Man killed in Houston Sportsplex shooting over suspected softball game altercation

A male was fatally shot late Thursday at a sports complex in southwest Houston, possibly over a softball game.

A large fight broke out about 10:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Houston Sportsplex, 12631 S Main Street, and a shot was fired, according to OnScene TV. A male was shot in the shoulder, according to tweets from the Houston Police Department.

Police took the shooting suspect into custody.

The victim was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.

The accused shooter is cooperating with police and suggested that their action was self-defense. About 300 people were at the Sportsplex Thursday night, according to OnScene TV, and police are hoping to find video footage or photos of the incident.
