Man prohibited from owning a gun found with 3 in Fresno, arrested

A man was arrested after being found with several guns in his possession and being prohibited from doing so in Fresno.

Police responded to the area of Cedar and Belmont Avenues on Wednesday after receiving a report of a man with a gun. When they arrived, the man threw a 9mm Taurus over a nearby fence.

The gun was recovered, and a 39-year-old gang member was arrested, according to officials.

On Thursday, detectives served a search warrant on his home and found a loaded .40 caliber privately manufactured firearm with a high capacity magazine in his vehicle, and a Ruger Mini-14 rifle was found inside the home.

The accused gang member says he bought the guns from another gang member. He has a prior conviction that prohibits him from owning any firearms.

He was booked into the Fresno County Jail on multiple charges.
