A soon-to-be mother has been charged with murder after a woman was found shot to death last summer.
According to court records, 33-year-old Tiffany Peteet was charged with murder and tampering with evidence in the death of 57-year-old Donna Abshire.
On July 10, 2020, police found Abshire dead inside a home located at 322 San Julio Dr. in Houston's north side near Independence Heights.
Court records say Peteet admitted to being with the victim the day of the shooting and claims the two were drinking at Abshire's home.
Investigators said Peteet somehow got access to Abshire's bank and credit card information along with her phone.
At one point, court records say Abshire's security system called the phone and Peteet allegedly answered claiming to be her daughter. The day before Abshire was killed, investigators said she sent Peteet a message asking her to return her property.
In addition, investigators said Peteet erased videos and information from the home's security system.
Peteet appeared in probable cause court on Wednesday where her bond was set at $250,000. She appeared visibly pregnant at the time of her appearance.
She's been ordered to remain under house arrest and will be required to wear an ankle monitor. Peteet is also banned from leaving Harris County along with its surrounding counties. She's also not allowed to be in the possession of any weapons or use any drugs.
Investigators stated that Peteet was the only person seen going in and out of Abshire's home at the time of the killing, according to court records.
The incident remains under investigation.
Peteet is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, Sept. 7.
