It happened at Kennedy Elementary in Norman. Parents who spoke with KOCO 5 said it was a ‘chaotic’ scene and warned drivers to slow down because the school is also in a neighborhood.

"Slow down, just slow down," said Siera, a Norman Public Schools parent.

It was a typical morning, dropping children off at school.

"What if it was your kid, you know?" said Amanda, a NPS parent.

The morning turned chaotic for a Norman mother.

"I kind of heard the car go up on the curb, it was like the sound of a wreck, and people were shouting and running towards that direction," Amanda said.

NPS confirmed a staff member was welcoming children in the drop-off line when a car jumped the curb and hit them.

"They sent us emails to our email address to let us be aware of what happened like to have caution as we are going through the line," Siera said.

The school staff member was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.

"When I heard she was okay, it was a relief. I was really worried," Siera said.

No students were involved in the incident.

"I was very happy it wasn't a kid because it could've been a lot worse," Amanda said.

Parents in the area said they worry about speeders in the area.

"When I take my kid to school, I actually get out and walk him to the door for safety precautions because they speed through here all the time," Amanda said.

Norman police told KOCO 5 it is still under investigation but so far, they’re calling it accidental. All parties were cooperative and the driver was not under the influence.
