Passenger killed, driver hurt in Upstate crash, coroner says

A passenger in a vehicle was killed in a crash, according to the Anderson County coroner's office.

The crash happened on South Main Street near Brissey Street at 12:48 a.m. Thursday, according to the coroner's office.

According to the coroner's office, the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, struck a utility pole and then a tree in the yard of a home.

The victim was a front seat passenger in the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt.

The coroner has identified the victim as 51-year-old Jerman Estrick.

The coroner's office said the driver was hurt and taken to a hospital in critical condition and admitted to ICU after undergoing surgery for multiple injuries.
