PORT ST. LUCIE — Two people were arrested following an apparent violent encounter that happened after a three-vehicle crash, according to police Tuesday and records.

Orlando Almodovar, 29, and Ellen Wilkerson, 28, were arrested by Port St. Lucie police April 2 after investigators went to a three-vehicle crash at Southwest Bayshore and Southwest Port St. Lucie boulevards, according to Port St. Lucie police and an affidavit.

A woman identified as a victim reported she saw the crash, and pulled over to talk to investigators.

She said one of the vehicles in the crash, a Cadillac sport utility vehicle, started driving toward her. The woman said she drove forward to avoid getting struck.

She said the Cadillac driver, identified as Almodovar, got out and started yelling at her. The passenger, identified as Wilkerson, also is accused of confronting the woman.

The woman said Almodovar smashed her back windshield by punching it.

A witness reported Wilkerson threw debris from the crash at the woman's vehicle.

“It is unclear why Wilkerson and Almodovar decided to yell and break the window of the victim’s car,” police stated in a release.

Almodovar told police he remembered smashing the back windshield of the woman's vehicle. Wilkerson told investigators she started throwing debris from the crash at the car.

Almodovar, of the 2500 block of Southwest Westfield Street in Port St. Lucie, was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and single counts each of battery and criminal mischief, an affidavit states.

Wilkerson, whose address was not immediately available, was arrested on battery and criminal mischief charges.

Almodovar was released April 3 from the St. Lucie County jail on $8,250 bond, while Wilkerson was released the same day on $3,250 bond, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.
