Officer shoots fleeing suspect who allegedly pointed a gun at her

SAN ANTONIO - A man was shot after allegedly pointing a gun at a San Antonio Police officer following a foot chase at a Northwest Side apartment complex. 

This is the second officer-involved shooting in one day for the San Antonio Police. A man was shot by an officer Tuesday afternoon during a standoff on the Southeast Side. 

The shooting happened just before midnight on Tuesday at the Colonnade Apartments off Colonnade Boulevard near Interstate 10. 

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said when the officers got to the apartment, they found a man and a woman arguing. According to witnesses, the woman had been beaten and was swollen about the face. 

At some point, the man jumped out a second floor window. The female officer chases down the suspect on foot. 

"He pulls a weapons and reportedly points it at her," said Chief McManus. "She fires one round, striking the suspect In the leg. He goes down and subsequently transported to the hospital."

The female victim inside the apartment left the scene. 

Per department policy, the officer will be placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
