Scooter chase in South Florida ends in the water
A Florida man fled from deputies on an electric scooter, only for the chase to end in the water.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said just before 3 a.m. deputies saw 38-year-old Jose Junior Vigil on a scooter with no lights headed down U.S. 1 on Stock Island. Deputies tried to stop Vigil as he headed south on a sidewalk toward Key West. But, Vigil refused to stop and continued to drive his scooter to a hotel near the entrance of Key West.
Deputies said he ditched the scooter and began to run on foot. Deputies even tried to subdue Vigil with a Taser but were unsuccessful. That's when Vigil jumped into the water and he refused to come out.

It wasn't until a Key West Police officer convinced Vigil to get out of the water, where he was then arrested.
The sheriff's office said this isn't the first time Vigil was arrested. He was charged with fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $40,000.
