'Socially awkward' neighbor of butchered Idaho students DENIES he is their killer

The 'socially awkward' neighbor of the four University of Idaho students who were brutally murdered in their sleep earlier this month has denied he is the killer.

Jeremy Reagan, a third-year law student who has described himself as being 'socially awkward,' blasted the internet sleuths who claim he has something to hide — and says they have driven him to carry a gun.

Some people online have suggested Reagan may be responsible for the November 13 slayings of  Kaylee Goncalves, 21; Madison Mogen, 21; Xana Kernodle, 20 and Ethan Chapin, 20, citing his strange mannerisms in a series of interviews.

The investigation into their grizzly deaths has now entered a third week with no suspects, as police in Moscow, Idaho have yet to even recover the murder weapon.

Authorities now believe the killer is 'proud' and 'possessive' of the knife they used to commit the heinous murders and have impounded four cars in connection with the homicides.

But Reagan insists he is innocent, telling Court TV on Tuesday: 'I didn't do it. I have nothing to hide.

'I'm willing to give DNA, fingerprints, whatever they need.'

He also revealed on News Nation's Banfield that officers have already questioned him about the quadruple homicide and 'didn't bring anything to collect DNA.'

'They said "If we need you, will you come down to the station?"' he recounted. 'I said, "Absolutely."'

Reagan said in a series of interviews on Tuesday that he believes his lack of composure has led to speculation that he is guilty.

'I'm naturally an awkward person, just my mannerisms, the way I talk ... my natural person, just a little bit socially awkward,' he stammered in the interview with Court TV.  'So I might smile at points that I shouldn't, I might make weird hand movements when I shouldn't.'

'Plus, I think it's the amount of interviews I've done.'

He told News Nation's Ashley Banfield people have been 'ruthlessly' analyzing those interviews even though he has insisted he was in bed when the murders took place and did not know anyone in the house.

The only thing he knew about the victims, he previously told the New York Post, was that their off-campus home in Moscow, Idaho was a 'party house.'

'There were parties that were kind of loud,' he said. 'As I would take my dog in and out to go to the bathroom, I would just be walking by, I would look up and I would see people in the windows almost every night, probably four or five nights a week.'

Still, people online have described Reagan as 'strange' and have compared his mannerisms to Stephen McDaniels, who was found guilty of the 2011 murder of Lauren Giddings, and serial killer Ted Bundy.

'Why is Jeremy Reagan wearing a black bandage on his left hand?' one Twitter user asked. 'I'm not accusing him, but that's just strange.

'He also doesn't blink when he says, "No I went to bed." Just strange.'

Saylee Bocock even accused him of being the killer, going as far as to compare him to renowned serial killer Ted Bundy.

'He knows too much about the girls and the layout of the house and who's really in it,' she wrote. 'He is also... learning how to be a lawyer. Who's that sound like? The lawyer Ted Bundy going around killing people.'

She went on to write that Reagan would not 'have any preference of hwo he kills, but he knows he wanted to kill,' and knew Kaylee Goncalves had a dog.

'He got to know the dog, this is probably why the dog didn't bark,' she suggested, writing: 'Somebody better be going and looking at Jeremy Reagan.'

Another user, only identified as 'Jesse,' also suggested he might be guilty of the homicides, writing that 'many perps in the past have inserted themselves into the investigation or did a bunch of media interviews about the killing.

'And this guy is doing just that!'

Reagan has tried to explain his behavior, apparently writing in a Reddit thread on the mystery: 'You need to stop blaming me for something [I] had nothing to do with.

'Yes I am an incredibly awkward person, but that doesn't mean I have killed or attempted to kill anybody.'

He added that he did not seek out any of the interviews and never claimed to have 'beneficial information.

'I was approached every time to do an interview, and told the reporter beforehand that I did not know anything,' Reagan explained. 'They still wanted to interview me due to proximity, so I said "sure."

He went on to write that he was not actually wearing a bandage in his second interview, but rather put his thumb through the thumb hole in the shirt and said 'There's nothing creepy or weird about noticing my surroundings as I'm walking back to my apartment.'

Reagan also slammed the internet sleuths as 'wannabe internet detectives' in the Reddit post, and has revealed on Banfield that he now carries a gun on him as people continue to harass him online.

'Just having it on me gives me that extra sense of security, especially now where cyber sleuths may or may not have come,' he said.

'They've already contacted my friends asking questions about me. And so who knows if someone's gonna go so far as to try and confront me in person?'
