Speech First sues Iowa State University for banning chalking

A free speech group said it plans to sue Iowa State University for its police on chalk messages on campus.

In November 2019, Iowa State enacted a policy allowing only registered student organizations to write on campus sidewalks.

Speech First filed the lawsuit in federal court. It said this, along with several other campus policies, had a chilling effect on free speech on the ISU campus.
