A Union City woman smashed her car in Downtown Bayonne, doing extensive damage to a water sprinkler playground.

The 32-year-old woman was issued a summons for drinking while under the influence after the early morning crash on July 6, Bayonne Capt. Eric Amato said.

The crash occurred at First Street Park near Broadway at 1:35 a.m., Amato said. While being arrested, the woman refused to comply with the officers’ commands to get out of the vehicle and she repeatedly pulled the door shut as officers tried to open it and remove her, Amato said.

The Union City woman was taken to a local hospital to be treated.
