Sunnyside Bank Robbed For 2nd Time In A Month, Police Say
SUNNYSIDE, QUEENS — Patrons at the Capital One bank in Sunnyside may be looking over their shoulders more than usual, as the branch was just robbed for the second time in less than a month, according to police.
The bank, on Queens Boulevard and 41st Street, suffered its latest robbery on June 24, when a man walked in around 5 p.m., approached the teller, and passed a note demanding money.
The teller complied and gave the man $100 in cash, according to police. He then left the bank and fled eastbound along Queens Boulevard.
No one was injured, according to police, who released photos of the suspect on Friday.
Just four weeks earlier, on May 28, a different man strolled into the same Queens Boulevard bank, also passed a "threatening note," and made off with $1,220 in cash, according to police.
No arrests have been announced for the initial robbery, even after police circulated additional photos of the suspect days later.
