A teenager is in custody after police say he is responsible for not only a string of car break-ins, but stealing a car with two kids inside last month.

South Fulton police said the three-month-old and nine-year-old were in an unattended vehicle left running at a BP gas station at 3515 Cascade Road on September 25 when someone jumped inside and drove away with it.

The car and the children were found a short distance away a short time later.

Police now say they have arrested the person they believe to be responsible.

On October 6, officers responded to an entering auto call at a Publix on Cascade Road where two minors, ages 16 and 17, attempted to steal a car in the parking lot.

Investigators later determined the 17-year-old was wanted for the kidding at BP and other car thefts in the area. He was arrested and taken to the Fulton County Jail.

The 16-year-old was also arrested and taken to the Metro Youth Detention Center.

The identities of both suspects have not been released because they are minors.
