A teen and a child were both critically injured after being shot in Memphis.

The shooting happened just before midnight on the night before Thanksgiving, Nov. 23.

“They don’t care anymore. They don’t care about you being young, girl or boy. They will shoot you regardless,” neighbor Marisha Meeks said.

Memphis Police officers responded to the 4000 block of Westmont Street at 11:46 p.m., where a house was shot numerous times.

MPD said a 15-year-old boy and a nine-year-old girl were both shot.

Both were taken to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

Neighbors were left shocked by the senseless violence so close to the holiday.

“At that age, being shot on Thanksgiving, not being able to be with your family. That’s heartbreaking,” one neighbor said.

Sadly, four teenagers were shot in Memphis in the 24 hours before the Thanksgiving holiday, shooting that left families devastated on a holiday meant to bring those families together.

“You don’t know who you are killing,” Meeks said. “You don’t know what you are doing to someone else. You are just not hurting that person. You are hurting the family. You are hurting a lot of people. So, just stop the violence.”

If you know anything about the person or people responsible for this shooting, or any other shooting, Memphis Police urge you to call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.

Any information which leads to an arrest could be worth up to $2,000.
