(UPDATE 10/13/20) -- 2News confirms that 32-year-old child pornography suspect Bendigo Lawrence is employed as a youth counselor at Slate Canyon Youth Center in Provo, Utah. He has worked at the state-run juvenile detention center since Oct. 2, 2018 and is still employed by the center as of Oct. 13, 2020.

SPANISH FORK, Utah (KUTV) -- A 32-year-old Spanish Fork, Utah man, who told police he works with troubled youth, is facing charges after police say they found child pornography on a USB drive inside his bedroom.

According to the Spanish Fork Police Department, they received a tip that Bendigo Lawrence was storing child pornography on a USB drive.

Lawrence is a youth counselor for Slate Canyon Youth Center, which is a secure juvenile detention center for youth that have committed crimes. So far, there have been no accusations of inappropriate behavior by Lawrence at the center.

Police got a warrant and searched Lawrence's home. During this time, Lawrence was detained and police say they read him his Miranda rights but he chose to speak to them anyway.

Police say Lawrence admitted to downloading child pornography on his computer inside his bedroom, and storing it on a USB drive.

Police seized the items involved and sent them to be analyzed.

Police say Lawrence also told them that his profession involves working with "troubled youth" although police did not say where or what position Lawrence held.

Lawrence is facing a felony charge of sexual exploitation of a minor.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
