Vicksburg officer wounded during arrest of drunk driver

Vicksburg police made a traffic stop Friday evening and arrested a Redwood resident.

Officer Hunter Anderson attempted to stop a speeding vehicle on the 900 block of Speed Street.

The driver was identified at Undrier Cage, 42.

Cage was driving a Cadillac Eldorado, pulled over and attempted to flee on foot.

Anderson then attempted to detain Cage and received a laceration on the side of his head.

Anderson was taken to Merit Health River by ambulance and was later released.

Cage was arrested and charged with assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct and driving under the influence.

Cage is being held without bond pending his initial appearance in court.
