A 26-year-old Victorville woman was arrested in a suspected hit-and-run in Huntington Beach that left one person dead and another severely injured, police said.

According to a release, Chillandra Bell is accused for hitting two pedestrians with her car at about shortly before 8 p.m. on July 25.

Huntington Beach Police say the collusion occurred in the northbound lanes of Pacific Coast Highway near Newland Avenue.

Bell allegedly ran a red light in her Nissan Altima, struck Deanna and Frederick Stuve who were in the crosswalk and drove away. Police found Deanna Stuve, 48, dead in the road. Frederick Stuve, 50, was found with serious injuries and taken to a local hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

Bell allegedly stopped a short distance away, where she and her passenger abandoned their vehicle, got into another vehicle and fled the scene.

Police were able to use witness descriptions and video surveillance to identify the getaway vehicle and track it to the Huntington Beach residence of the register owner.

Officers arrived at the residence and arrested Bell as she was leaving the location.

Bell was booked in the HBPD jail on charges of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, hit and run resulting in death or injury, and additional charges. Police said the identity of the driver of the white getaway vehicle is still unknown and is being investigated.

Witnesses to the collision or anyone with information are asked to call HBPD Traffic Investigator D. Demetre at (714) 536-5670, or Investigator V. Rattanchandani at (714) 536-5663.
