VIDEO: Police question Hobbs teen after baby abandoned in dumpster
Video of an 18-year-old New Mexico woman accused of throwing away her newborn baby taken as she is questioned by police was released.
The Hobbs Police Department released video of Alexis Avila during her interrogation.
Avila is accused of throwing her baby boy into a dumpster behind a mall just hours after giving birth.

She said she didn't know she was pregnant until the day before.
Police investigator: What led to this?
Avila: I found out I was pregnant yesterday.
Police investigator: How did you find out?
Avila: I had back pain. The pain comes and goes. I didn't think much about it. I went to the clinic, and they told me I was pregnant.
Police investigator: Who took you?
Avila: I went by myself.
Police investigator: A school friend says you knew you were pregnant.
Avila: Walker? I don't know a Walker.
Avila: I went to the restroom and it came out. I was in a panic and didn't know what to do. I was scared. I was so scared my mom was going to hate me.
Avila: What did you do after the fact.
Avila: I wrapped it in a towel. I didn't know what to do. I was scared.
Police investigator: You weren't expecting it to happen
Avila: No. Nothing changed. I drove around and put it where I put it. I had the trash bag in the car. I put it in the bag. I took it to the car. I drove around, I didn't know what to do.
Police investigator: Where did you throw it?
Avila: I threw it in the trash. I tossed it in there.
Authorities said the infant is in the care of the New Mexico Department of Children, Youth and Families.
