A New Hampshire man accused of killing his 5-year-old daughter now has two jury trials scheduled for next year.

Adam Montgomery is accused of killing his daughter, Harmony Montgomery, in 2019, but his first trial will be on weapons charges.

The weapons case against Adam Montgomery was set to begin earlier this month, but in a hearing Tuesday morning, his defense team pointed to last-minute new evidence that came in and asked the court for more time. That case now won't be tried until June.

The judge pushed lawyers on both sides to be ready to go to trial at that time.

Adam Montgomery is charged with being an armed career criminal in connection to thefts of a rifle and a shotgun in 2019, months before he allegedly beat Harmony to death.

Last month, he was charged with second-degree murder in Harmony's death. Her remains have not been recovered.

Defense attorney Caroline Smith told the court that while the weapons charges are not connected to the murder charges, there is an interplay between the information coming in from witnesses.

"The new information significantly changed the case, so that's what I was talking about, additional witnesses that I would probably call," Smith said.

The murder trial is now scheduled to begin in early August.

Adam Montgomery was not in court for the hearings.
