Westmoreland County homicide suspect arrested on Florida beach

A man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that happened in Arnold, Westmoreland County, on Jan. 16, was arrested by Jacksonville Beach police in Florida on Sunday morning.

Jacksonville Beach police arrested 30-year-old Mario Matthew Gatti while they were patrolling the beach, assuring everyone was adhering to the current beach rules. Gatti was wanted for criminal homicide.

In the January shooting in Arnold, Michael Coover Jr., 33, of Brackenridge, was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene on 17th Street.

Police said Gatti was loitering close to the dunes when he was taken into custody. He was booked into the Duval County Jail as a fugitive from justice and additionally charged with giving false information to law enforcement.
