A 29-year-old Walker woman died today after the car she was driving veered off La. 308 in Lafourche Parish and struck a utility pole, police said.
Kristen Taylor died at a local hospital, where she had been taken after the crash, State Police Troop C said in a news release.
The wreck occurred just before 7 a.m. as Taylor was driving a 2010 Kia Optima north along La. 308 in the Valentine community, police said. As she neared Amoco Road, Taylor traveled off the highway to the right while in a left curve and struck the pole.
Taylor as wearing a seat belt, police said. A toxicology sample, required by state law in all fatal crashes, was collected from Taylor and submitted for analysis.
Troop C has investigated 23 fatal crashes resulting in 25 deaths in 2022.
