EVANSTON, IL — An 18-year-old Evanston woman reported she fought off a pair of kidnappers while on her way to work Monday, police said.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m., the woman was walking in the 1200 block of Fowler Avenue on the way to her job in the 2400 block of Main Street, she told officers.

While walking she noticed a small gray, four-door car drive toward her and park across the street, according to police. Two unidentified attackers got out of the car, grabbed her and picked her up.

The woman was able to fight and free herself from their grasp before running to her job.

The woman could not determine the race or age of her attackers, who were both wearing black ski masks, according to police. One was wearing a gray hoodie and black plants and the other was wearing all black clothes, according to police.

"Even though the investigation has not revealed any continued threats to the public, the Evanston Police Department advises the community to use caution and report any suspicious circumstances," police said in a statement.

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call Evanston police detectives.
