Arms Dealer Viktor Bout Lands In Moscow After Brittney Griner Prisoner Swap
Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout landed in Moscow on December 8, after he was exchanged for WNBA star Brittney Griner in a prisoner swap. Bout, a former Soviet military officer, was serving a 25-year sentence at a penitentiary in Illinois. He was arrested in a hotel in Bangkok in 2008, after undercover DEA agents posed as rebels from the Colombian group FARC. The 2005 Hollywood movie "Lord Of War" featuring Nicholas Cage is believed to have been loosely inspired by Bout's life.
