Meet the group of musicians whose venues include crime scenes

The Black String Triage Ensemble has played more than a dozen venues. Tragically, they’re usually all crime scenes, where something traumatic has happened just hours before. "They come together around a cause of gun violence in communities of color to help bring peace and healing in the aftermath of these shootings that occur," founder Dayvin Hallmon said. The ensemble is made up of black and Latin string musicians. Each play instruments like the violin, cello and upright bass. Hallmon said the goal of the ensemble is to promote how special life is. "If we can do something about that and get to a point where the humanity is appreciated and respected, then I won’t say we solved it, but maybe we were a damn good catalyst."
