People Are Sobbing Over Mom's Sweet Tribute to Brother With Down Syndrome

He's more than capable...

The internet is admittedly a dark and strange place. But for all the bad that passes through social media, there is a profound amount of good. Some of the very best things it's done is give everyday people the ability to share their life experiences with the world. A few swipes on TikTok and you'll be able to add at least three new basic skills to your tool kit. Also, though, it's given space for voices who go typically unheard to be listened too, and thats especially true for marginalized community members and their families. 

One mom and TikToker who happens to have a brother who has Down Syndrome uses her social media platform to show people just how loving and capable people with intellectual disabilities can be. And she does so beautifully by showing the tender relationship between her brother and daughter.

In the video she shows clips dating back to when her daughter was a newborn of the two spending time together. In her text overlay, we learn about their story, and how when she and her family decided to give her brother a chance to be the care giver, not the receiver, he showed nothing but capability, patience and love. 

Followers were move to tears over the gorgeous bond. 

"I LOVE THIS.I had an uncle with Down Syndrome and he was so gentle and good with my baby.I trusted him with my baby," one user said.

"Beautiful! I am a life skills teacher and it’s amazing what they are capable of when given the chance," chimed in another. 

The mom and sister doesn't share this with the intent of canonizing him, but merely to dispel beliefs that otherwise able-bodied people place on people like her brother. 

Ultimately, we think these two are going to have a super special bond for years to come, and only hope that others get to experience a wholesome human connection like this.
