Mary Alspaugh, 85, of Winston-Salem, has raised nearly $200,000 in donations for the hospital over the last 20 years.

Alspaugh, a retired Wake Forest Baptist administrative employee, started the Santa's Elves program to raise money for the hospital.

Her goal every year is to raise $10,000, and her work and dedication to the project reached a major milestone this year.

The money raised has helped multiple initiatives to assist patients beyond her original goal of helping the families at Christmas.

To become an official "Santa's Elf," a person must donate $100 or more, but any donation is appreciated. Click here to donate toward the cause.

This year’s contributions will be used for a music therapy room at Brenner Children’s, which will include a recording studio, performance stage and instruments, and a music therapist.
