Do Cops Use Air Fresheners on Mirrors as a Pretext to Pull People Over?

Before he was fatally shot by police, Daunte Wright called his mother to her he had been pulled over for having an air freshener hanging from his rearview mirror. Some contend air freshener stops are a pretext for police harassment, especially for people of color. Phil Colbert, who lives in Arizona, told Inside Edition that he was once pulled over for having an air freshener hanging in his car. Police Chief Michael Folingo told Inside Edition “many minor traffic violations lead to big arrests.”
