Roasting Pride Merch Is the Latest Trend, But Queer TikTokers Say It’s a Serious Problem

As quickly as companies release Pride Month collections in June, LGBTQ TikTokers have shared videos of themselves roasting them. While the videos rating cheesy T-shirt slogans are done in good fun, experts say it points to a deeper problem: rainbow capitalism. “Queer people are used both as marketing tools by corporations to sell their products and also as consumers to market to,” says Blake Pruitt, an organizer with Reclaim Pride Coalition.
