China Blames Staggering Trade Surplus On U.S. As New Tariffs Loom

On Thursday, China blamed US export restrictions for its staggering trade surplus with the United States, however it expressed hope that a solution would be found to settle trade issues between the world's two largest economies as new U.S. tariffs loom. According to a report by Reuters, Beijing is bracing for an announcement from President Donald Trump on tariffs imposing as much as 60 billion dollars on Chinese imports. Washington is also pressuring China to lower its enormous $375 billion trade surplus with the United States by $100 billion. However, Reuters reports that China still hopes that it can hold constructive talks with the US aimed at finding a win-win solution.
