Congress’ Spending Bill Largely Ignores Trump’s Wall Demands

Congress' spending bill, which must be passed by Friday at midnight to avoid a government shutdown, contains no funding for Donald Trump's wall - at least not the kind the president described during his campaign. As of now, the legislation includes just under $1.6 billion for increased border security and directs roughly 92 miles of border barriers to be built or replaced. Also, rather than one of the prototypes for the wall Trump visited in California earlier in the month, any additional security is limited to the same model of fencing and levees currently used on the border.
