Detroit Police Officer Knocks Out Man In Middle Of The Street

A Detroit Police officer was filmed punching a man in the face in the city’s Greektown area in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 1. Video shows a man standing in the street and talking to police officers before one of the officers punches him in the face, knocking him to the ground. In a statement police said, “The Detroit Police Department was made aware, via social media, of an allegation of excessive force in Greektown. Internal Affairs is reviewing the circumstances surrounding this allegation. Second Deputy Chief Rudy Harper told Storyful News that the department received video from a civilian showing “what appears to be officers assaulted before the punch.”
