Do Not Leave Firearms in an Unattended Vehicle

Today, the San Antonio Police Department announces the release of a bilingual public service announcement on the importance of not leaving firearms in an unattended vehicle. This year, approximately 1,500 firearms were stolen from a vehicle within SAPD’s jurisdiction. SAPD strongly encourages firearm owners to exercise responsibility when leaving their residence with their firearm. We encourage you to plan ahead if you know you will be parking at a shopping center, business, or visiting a location that does not allow firearms inside their establishment. Firearm owners are also asked to document the serial number of their firearm in the event it is stolen.
